January 2009 — "I love MEC. I really do. When I go to their store I can generally find what I'm looking for, and usually get it for a very good price. However, the last two times I was there I was thoroughly disappointed. Yesterday evening I went to MEC (which is halfway across the city) for a balaclava. They didn't have one in the style I wanted as they were sold out. That's fine. I can understand that. So I went online to buy one, only to be once more disappointed. My balaclava was a seasonal item. It's only available in fall and winter. The thing is, it's January. It is winter. We still have a few more months of winter to go, and I have to wait until next year. But I'm not going to wait. I'll just hit up the smaller retail stores. At least they'd have the courtesy to order in what I want if they don't have it. MEC is a good store. Sometimes they're just too big to be useful though."
